Spray Foam Insulation Cost in Hamilton

The honest answer on cost: it depends on your building, and anyone who quotes a number before seeing your project is guessing.

What Drives the Price

  • Foam type. Open-cell foam is generally less costly per inch; closed-cell costs more but delivers a higher R-value, water resistance and rigidity.
  • Area and depth. Square footage and the thickness the job needs, attics and roofs typically need more depth than interior walls.
  • Access and prep. Tight crawl spaces, old insulation that needs removal, and masking work all affect labour.
  • Building type. A steel building or shipping container behaves differently from a wood-framed house and is quoted accordingly.

Why Foam Pays It Back

Spray foam costs more upfront than batts or blown-in material, and then earns it back: it does not settle or sag, it air seals as it insulates, and the energy savings continue every month the building stands. Get a real number for your project, call (289) 212-0143 or request your free estimate.

What Actually Drives the Number

Four things move a spray foam quote more than anything else: the area being covered, the installed thickness the assembly requires, which product it needs, and how hard the space is to work in. An open attic with good access is straightforward. A century home with a cut-up roof structure, knee walls and no real access takes far longer for the same square footage. Anyone quoting without seeing the space is guessing at three of those four.

Why Closed Cell Costs More Than Open Cell

Closed cell uses more material per unit of volume, is denser, and delivers a higher R-value per inch along with vapour control and added rigidity. Open cell expands much further from the same quantity, which makes it cheaper to fill a given cavity. The two are not interchangeable, so the honest comparison is not price per board foot but which one the assembly actually requires.

Removal Is a Separate Line, and It Should Be

Where existing insulation has to come out first, that is slow dirty work and the easiest item to bury inside a larger number. It should appear as its own line so you can see what the clean-out costs against what the new insulation costs. If the existing material is sound and can stay, a contractor with nothing to hide will tell you that rather than quoting the clean-out anyway.

Why We Will Not Quote Over the Phone

A number given without seeing the building is a number that changes later, and changing a price after the work has started is how these jobs go wrong. We measure what is there, look at the access and the assembly, and put the product, the thickness and the covered areas in writing before anything begins.

Questions

Common questions

What decides the price of spray foam?

Foam type, installed depth, the area covered and prep work. Every estimate itemizes all four.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. Free, written and itemized before any work begins.

Open-cell or closed-cell, which costs more?

Closed-cell costs more per board foot and delivers a higher R-value per inch plus a moisture barrier; open-cell covers more area per dollar.
